About Gary G Thomsen

I have been pursuing my photographic interests since my boyhood Kodak Brownie days, which turned into a merit badge in Boy Scouts, then inheriting my father's Minolta rangefinder, I set out after college touring the U.S. for the National Park Service  photographing and documenting my living history work for the Bi-Centennial.

After my early days of shooting only black and white film, I transitioned to 35mm slide film which I shot almost exclusively until acquiring my first digital camera 10 years ago .  The body of work on this website is an amalgamation of early slide work, scanned black and white negatives and my later digital work.

My work now emphasizes my interest in performance, most specifically circus and other allied arts, though I have a keen interest in nature photography and other artistic efforts such as my reflections and windows series.  I also shoot head shots , often for performers, as well as events for agency fundraisers.

I hope you enjoy what you see on this site and will return to see what's new.
